SCAM ALERT: Like many other domain name owners, I received a letter from a Canadian Company, calling itself the Domain Registry of America (DROA). DROA’s letter appeared to be a renewal notice and advised that my domain name was about to expire. It requested payment for “renewal” at an inflated price. It was captioned “IMPORTANT NOTICE,” warned about losing the domain name if it isn't properly renewed immediately. Fortunately, I knew this was a scam and made sure my clients were informed to disregard such a notice. The Federal Trade Commission is aware of this scam.
SCAM ALERT UPDATE: Although the Federal Trade Commission has taken measures against the DROA scam, there are still similar letters being received. It doesn't say you have to act now, but the letters do advise business to renew with them. If you should receive any letter about your domain name registration or your web hosting services, contact your web design company immediately to confirm if is the real thing.
It may be summer vacation for the kids, but it appears to be a hot, busy summer in website design! Small businesses around New England are realizing the value of a custom designed website. Along with the new websites that are due to launch this month, there are just as many starting up to launch in August. Thank goodness for mobile technology so that I can work on the road and spend time with the kids at the family camp!
One of the very first websites I designed back in 2000 was for an Chiltern American Women's Club in England. Although I repatriated in late 2003, I occasionally check back with them to see what's new. I wrote the original text, much of which has stayed the same. My most recent contact resulted in the club inquiring in - and then switching to - my hosting and domain service. Funny how the wheel keeps turning ... and it can't slow down!
The answer is a new website! My daughter competes in the equestrian sport of Eventing and this is the time of year when show season begins in New England. How appropriate that during the month of May I'll be working on at least 4 horse-related websites. As show hosts are preparing their farms for their shows, they are sprucing up their websites to post the latest results.
At this time of year, landscapers are preparing to bring your yard back to life. They want their websites to reflect that same rejuvenation for the coming season.
Are you ready to bring your website back to life too?
This month I came had a unique situation, allowing me to fully support my philosophy of helping small businesses in Maine and throughout New England. Toddy Brook Golf Course had experienced some trouble with their previous website design and hosting company and needed to get their web presence back ... and FAST! Within 24 hours, we were able to work together to put a beautiful new placeholder page on the web and get Toddy Brook Golf re-registered with the major search engines. Watch the progress of the new Toddy Brook Golf new website on my blogspot, the the official launch due to take place by May 1, 2008.

Flying Change Webs & Graphics was proud to launch the new website design for FAUSA - FAWCO Alumnae USA on February 10, 2008 . Within 24 hours of it's launch, the organizations' president was inundated with praise and already had inquiries into open volunteer positions. See it featured on the website design before & after page.
Flying Change Webs & Graphics has been asked to redesign the website of the Alumnae organization of an international women's club.
